I didn’t even know what happened at first. I woke up to a bunch of texts from friends that are at a bachelor party there saying “we’re all good” in some form or another. Which I guess is better than hearing about the incident first. Still totally fucked.

As brutal as this world can be, life must go on. We can’t just all stay locked up in our homes out of fear or sadness. Hope you can find a way to help out in whatever small way (donate blood), and then you can find a way to still get some enjoyment out of your time there (hard to even think about now, I’m sure).

Had to be like getting hit by a brick when you walked in... I was actually kind of pissed at NPR this morning. They mentioned the shooting during the little news segments, but otherwise were pretty much going with their normal programming... Seemed callous in light of what happened. I switched to CNN on satellite radio.

My in-laws were in a nearby casino, heard shots, and saw victims... Luckily, they weren’t outside or ever in direct danger. One of my coworkers was at the event when it happened (she is safe), too.

It’s scary/crazy. My sympathy to those that are suffering from this.

Managed to get in touch with all three. Two of them were hours out of the city before the shooting began while the third had to be several buildings away. They’re fine but completely shell-shocked from the incident.
